What is your story? Not what do others think you are capable of. Not what do others say about your abilities, your aspirations, your dreams. What do you say about these things?

All of us tell stories about ourselves. These stories, these narratives define us. You, more than anyone else, have the ability to inspire belief in your motives, your character or your capacity to reach your goals. Is your narrative – CA(SA) is a challenge I can overcome? Or are you continuously focusing on the obstacles in your way? I know what you are capable of and I hope you know that too.

Former Tennis number 1 Martina Navratilova was once asked, “How do you maintain your focus, physique and sharp game even at the age of 43?” She gave a humble reply, “The ball doesn’t know how old I am”.

The ball doesn’t distinguish and neither does CA(SA). It doesn’t care if you are a Mom struggling at home to juggle your studying with family commitments. It doesn’t care if there is regular loadshedding in your area, or whether you have worked a 60 hour week at the office. It doesn’t discriminate.

The key factor to performing well in life and in every arena is the ability to control the quality and quantity of your “internal dialogue”. Performance is potential minus internal interference. Remove the interference as best you can and focus on what you can control. Back yourself. Believe in the overwhelming positive story that this year will be for you.

So again- what is your story? And does it motivate and help you to endure frustration, suffering, and hard work. It should. You deserve it.
